Faraday Café

I can't tell you how much I depend on café's to connect me to the rest of the world. With work being in the cloud and with my role as the Online Editor relying on a strong Internet connection, café's with available WiFi are key. These days many of us work satellite and cafe's have become our home away from home and our office for the day. And we can't forget the coffee in one hand, phone in the other, checking our feeds and texting away. It's common-day communication. But what happens when there's no signal?

Encyclopedia Hearsay | Ragnarok

The Encyclopedia Hearsay was founded on four principles: misinformation, rumours, half-remembered conversations, and outright lies. Anyone can contribute, so long as articles are written with no research whatsoever. If you are citing The Land Before Time as a source, or abusing footnotes like David Foster Wallace, you are on the right track.

NXNE 2014

NXNE—the northern sibling of SXSW—officially kicks off today! This 10-day festival of music, film, interactive, comedy and art is taking over Toronto for its 20th year (happy birthday, buds!). The music portion is wedged right in the middle of proceedings, starting on June 18, and features an expansive list of artists, including St.

CREATIVE DIFFERENCES Presented by Grolsch [VIDEO]

'CREATIVE DIFFERENCES Presented by Grolsch + ION Magazine' is an art series party that includes an interactive art competition. Vancouver hosted the first of the series with artists from Leonid Rozenberg and The Specials, Hot Art Wet City, and Sexy Bizness. NSFW | TOBACCO "Streaker" by Eric Wareheim [video]

Eric Wareheim took an old porn VHS that one of the older kids hid in the woods, shoved it into Max Renn from Videodrome's chest vagina alongside the living-breathing nightmare tape and scored it to Tobacco's "Streaker". The results are horrifying, disgusting, and full of dark corners. But let's be honest, who doesn't want to explore a dark corner? I'm calling 1-844-TOBAXXO for a tour.

Needs & Wants | Cartel Footwear

We have been loving the timeless design of Cartel Footwear's leather boot collection. So, of course, we were excited to see this year's Spring/Summer collection of shoes and sandals! The 2016 collection is influenced by two unique and completely contrasting sources, late 70’s English Mod and Club culture and the Old West, through pairing materials such as patent leather and metallic materials, or natural suede, tassels and subtle Cordovan lining.

Needs & Wants | J'M'EN Sac and Macbook

There’s something thrilling about not giving a rat’s behind. Show how much you don’t care about anything with this handmade, ink on canvas bag from Montreal’s MCMarquisDesign. This carry-all is perfect for anyone who doesn’t care but has to shlep stuff around. Technically “J’m’en sac” means “I don’t bag” but you should bag, this bag. You just shouldn’t care.

Stunt Brings Toronto To Montreal

You are walking down the street minding your own business and suddenly, two people come up to you and ask you questions like, “How many subway lines are there in Montreal?” or “At what time do bars close in Montreal?” Would you know the answers? A handful of lucky people actually did! As their reward, they were given one hour to get ready and jump on an Air Canada flight for an all-expenses-paid trip to the fabulous city, courtesy of Tourisme Montreal.
