Dirty Projectors Share New Track "Little Bubble"

Since last September, Dirty Projectors have been teasing new material and a new album for 2017, and today Dave Longstreth and company delivered the new song and video for “Little Bubble”. There is no other info known as of yet about the forthcoming LP, but if this track is any indication it’s going to be a wonderful personal affair. The past few years have seen the band slowly breaking out of their damaged, tropical-tinged art pop and quietly embracing a more mature and weary R&B side. When they have incorporated these elements in the past, on tracks like “Stillness Is The Move” from 2009’s Bitte Orca and “See What She’s Seeing” from 2012’s Swing Lo Magellan, they have created some of their more standout songs. “Little Bubble” fits in perfectly with these. The song is stark and intimate, showcasing Longstreth’s voice over some bare bone synth parts and a loose bass and drum groove merged to the requisite electronic beeps and boops.

The video lines up with the song ideally. Directed by Longstreth with Adam Newport-Berra, it features a bearded and somewhat burdened looking Longstreth alone in a series of barren environments lamenting, “We had our own little bubble, for awhile.” The whole endeavour is minimal, beautiful and certainly ups the anticipation for more new Dirty Projectors material.
