Louise Burns debuts video for "Storms"

Today Vancouver’s Louise Burns has debuted the video for "Storms", the lead single off of her upcoming, and quite lovely, album Young Mopes (2/3 on Light Organ Records). The clip shot in beautiful black and white and directed by Exquisite Corps, the filmmaking team of Justin Gradin and Ben Jacques, shows Ms. Burns trying to flee a haunted dollhouse. The house comes complete with floating sharks, man-eating furniture and a melted faced doppelganger waiting on the other side. Featuring a unique mix of practical and cg effects and a really great moment involving the removal of a tongue, it’s a darling mash-up of The Blair Witch and Pee Wee’s Playhouse

The track itself, produced by Burns and featuring the wonderful musicianship of Darcy Hancock and Ryan Peters, is an irresistible blend of sparkling 80s indebted guitar riffs, driving drums and the hookiest of vocal melodies.  It’s a moody kind of fun, one that definitely befits this spooky season and a wonderful way to announce the album; an album I, for one, cannot wait for.
