New Order Unveils "People On The High Line" Video

Today electropop veterans New Order have shared the new video for People On The High Line in advance of the release of their People On The High Line 7” picture disc on October 21st.  The track, with guest vocals from Elly Jackson of La Roux, is a throwback to the band’s 80s output with just the right amount of Madchester-esque piano thrown in to keep things moving. The video easily keeps up to the pace of the song by featuring the amazing breakdancing skills of UK based chorographers Hakim Saber and B-Girl Lyra.

We get to witness the two dancers practicing in separate locations but we see them showing up to each other’s studios, in their minds, quietly studying each other and pushing both to do better. It all goes along with the main thrust of the song, “I’ll keep trying.”

It’s nice to see a band so far into a lengthy career actually trying to stay relevant. By putting out a great hooky single and pairing it with an entertaining video, New Order has shown by not parading around your past glories on the nostalgia circuit, you can remain credible, interesting and seem like you are having fun still doing it.
