Conway | "Sudden Dawn"

This new track by Conway stood out this week, mostly because it was by the first contemporary female solo artist, mostly electronic, who didn't mention Grimes as an influence in her press release in what feels like three years. What's perhaps more impressive than that, is the Los Angeles through St. Louis artist, managed to get signed to Columbia Records and then wriggle free of the contract, while getting her masters back.

The Raveonettes | This World Is Empty (Without You) [Video]

The Raveonettes have marched to their own drum since they formed in 2000, so it is no surprise that Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo decided to do things a little bit differently with their new "anti-album" in 2016. The duo have released a brand new track entitled This World Is Empty (Without You) as part of a series called "Rave-Sounds-Of-The-Month", a collection of new songs that will be released one at a time on the last Friday of every month until the end of the year.

Jesse Berlin | Elvis Blessings & Louboutin Lessons

When the nice folks at ION first got in touch with me about doing this interview, they acknowledged that I have a track record of being, shall we say, less than friendly to the majority of music journalists who have crossed my path. In my defense, every journalist who has been sent to interview me in the past just happened to be a barely literate failure of a human being.

Grimes | Kill V Maim [video]

Grimes puts out her latest video for the song Kill V Maim, and it is what you would expect. Much like the video for "Genesis", Kill V Maim has the same glossy, Mad Max meets female dancers vibe going on, but this time it has a bit more of a Japanese art feeling to it. Quite a departure from her earlier videos, but not in a bad way. Let us know your thoughts.

MIKAL CRONIN | RETURNING HOME

Mikal Cronin is at peace and at home. Not necessarily in that spiritually re-awakened, opening moments of a movie trailer kind of way, though truthfully there's been a bit of that going on too. His third solo album, the aptly-titled and surprisingly orchestrated garage-pop masterpiece MCIII, is a lush examination of various discomforting truths and concepts of self-doubt.

Golden Daze | Low [audio]

Getting us ready for warmer weather, Ben Schwab and Jacob Loeb of Golden Daze, just released "Low", their latest single off of their self-titled album which is due to drop on February 19th. Inspired by 60’s melodic rock and contemporaries like Cass Mccombs and Brian Jonestown Massacre, this latest offering from the L.A. based duo is a nice follow up to their first single "Salt". Let us know what you think.

PENICILLIN BABY | SPACE-TRASH & THE END OF THE WORLD

Penicillin Baby consists of Jon Tyler Conant, Charlie Davis, Taylor Lowrance, and Wes Mitchell, who met when they eventually found themselves in Nashville, Tennessee. The band has a surprising obsession with rooftops, and Jon Tyler Conant reflects on how “in almost every city we go to, we find a way onto the roof of some tall building.
It kind of makes me feel like a little kid
again.

Cafe Lanai | Paradise [ALBUM REVIEW]

Being a barista for a big coffee chain like Starbucks must be a huge pain in the ass. The pay isn't great and the customers are ragingly impatient because they haven't gotten their non-fat half-caff horse placenta venti mochachino yet. On top of that, all the baby boomers that take up valuable seating for hours with empty cups keep asking you what this "hip new album" is.
