Death From Above 1979 | The Physical World [ALBUM REVIEW]

Wake up wake up, it's Christmas morning! That new Death from Above 1979 record you wanted is here and ready to unwrap. Good thing you got that Delorean last Christmas to take you back 10 years to when you actually might've enjoyed this. Sabastien "and the mountains" Grainger and Jesse "MSTRKRFT" Keeler are together again to bring you what can only begrudgingly be described as a new DFA 1979 record. The fact that it sounds like throwaway songs from You're A Woman, I'm a Machine sessions negates the “new” and the utter lack of chemistry between the two, really making it a Frankenstein's monster of solo parts. This is not the band you've cherished while wilding out with all your dance-punk friends. I'm sure this paint-by-numbers cash grab of finally bowing to the youth who've clambered for a new album will be a great help to refinishing your wraparound porch or whatever, but your sick racoon of a legacy has crawled under said porch to blow its brains out. Next Christmas just ask for a new Lightning Bolt record like you should have.
