The History of Apple Pie | Feel Something [ALBUM REVIEW]

I'll have another glass of the "guitar pop" please, it's a great vintage (being a moderately priced new bottle that tastes like a fuzz aged sixties bottle) and from the highly regarded wine region of Britain. Delicious. I didn't think so much of Feel Something from The History of Apple Pie at first. I don't think my need for another throwback sixties-inspired, My Bloody Dinosaur type of band is really that strong, but then I remembered I'm a sucker for all this stuff. Always. This is a fun, pretty record with playful lyrics—there's a song about snowballs—SNOWBALLS—and some good hooks. Lead singer Stephanie Min's voice is basically the equivalent of a bunny with a bob haircut playing with one of those wooden cup-n-ball game things that Milhouse bogarted from Bart once Bonestorm got boring; aka it's adorable. This is not to say it's an overly cutesy record, but it could use a little more bite. Especially with Joshua Third of The Horrors having a hand in engineering. All in all it may take a bit to sink in, but once it gets in there it's bound to make you smile. Plus, their band acronym is THOAP and that sounds like Mike Tyson trying to pronounce 'soap', so that's tremendous.
