Temples | Sun Structures [ALBUM REVIEW]

It merely takes a few seconds of the album to play until you are taken back to an era of music that has long past. I hate the term revival, but it is very fitting for the Temples. This english band’s work has, to me, all sounded as though it should be played, and enjoyed on a vinyl record. This album, Sun Structures, is no different.

The band does not shy away from taking their listener on a trip, and this beautifully produced album provides this experience. The title track, "Sun Structures" starts like a freight train, and doesn’t stop until it’s finished. The guitar build at the outset challenges you to not start moving. It is almost tribal as it builds. Then singer James Bagshaw’s voice rides the guitars masterfully. And that is only the first 36 seconds of the song.

The songs are all so exceptionally written, that once the entire group is playing, they have crafted something special together. I’m not 100% sure, but if possible I suggest getting this album on vinyl and deservedly adding it to your collection.
