Young Guv’s Ripe 4 Luv is like cutting open the perfect avocado and saying “Fuck yeah! There is nothing wrong with this one!” Ben Cook uses the freshest production on each of the 8 tracks that make up an LP that would get you up the morning even if you downed a bottle of Jameson’s the night before. Cook’s unique ability to make sure you get your pop re-fill is unrivaled. The title track’s snapping snare and guitar hooks galore are insane, but adding the vocals is simply transcendent. The flower notes in “Crushing Sensation” seeping from the guitar riffs are reminiscent of a crispy Riesling that melts in your mouth and finds a permanent spot in your list of unflawed moments. Compare it to the first time you heard “Good Vibrations” and think “How did they do that?”
