Music festivals are overwhelming. So many great acts, so much going on, all at the same time. All you can really do is make educated guesses and hope what you chose is worth it, and cooler than the thing going on down the street. With so much at this year’s POP Montreal, it was a safe to say that wherever you were, it would be worth it.

As soon as Humans took the stage to close out ION's Showcase at POP Montreal,with Boompa and Hybridity, people couldn’t stop moving. The music, so direct, so instantly gratifying, so much fun, jumped, leapt and then took off, almost seeming to be dancing itself, to be leading the way in a procession.

Two young women wrapped in plastic jumped out onto the stage and took their place at their stations, as thrilled as their audience to be there. Moments later out comes Vancouver-born, Montreal-bred Grimes, glowing, hungry, ready to do her thing, to be herself.

POP Montreal is back for another year of bringing us the best in emerging musical artist from around the globe. The five day festival, from September 19th to 23rd, will showcase everyone from David Byrne and Saint Vincent, Doldrums and Grimes, Laetitia Sadier, Mozart's Sister, Peaches and Purity Ring, to touch just the sides of this ridiculously good line-up.

Peaches is an artist with many talents, all of which are hard to ignore, thanks to their sheer levels of diversity and brilliance. She's best known for her disregard of gender norms and her ear bending sound. Her music has been featured in everything from Mean Girls to Lost in Translation - famed for shooting her, and her controversial lyrics, to notoriety - and she has collaborated with everyone from Yoko Ono to Christina Aguilera.

It’s summertime, and in the summertime there isn’t much better of a spot to spend the afternoon than the ballpark. I mean, the beach is generally the first suggested, but have you ever seen what happens at the beach after dark? Just a reminder, they don’t clean the sand. The ballpark is probably the only place where you can be outside while drinking beer and shouting at the top of your lungs. And the more you do both, the more people cheer you on.

Gentleman Reg has a flair in everything he does, and it is no different with the release of his latest long-player called Leisure Life, which is being rolled out as a series of three EPs. The EPs are being released digitally through Heavy Head Records, the first EP, "Leisure Life Part 1", was released on July 3rd, and now we have the exclusive release of "Make It Better" from the second EP, Leisure Life Part 2.
