If you are not familiar with Red Bull Music Academy, now is the perfect time to check it out. The Red Bull Music Academy is a month long incubator for music, art, and culture, where established musicians collaborate and create with up and coming musicians, and then the creations that stem from these collaborations are shared with the public via video or live performances. Brutes Premiere "Inside"

Anyone who has ever spent a little bit of time around Vancouver’s music scene knows that this city is known for not only breeding huge worldwide hitmakers but also for an underground of artists who intend to create something that is unique and, at the very least, interesting. Cue Brutes, a new analogue synth-based darkwave project from vocalist Lindsay Dakin, keyboardist Christian Pelech and programmer Jonathan Salvatore.

Louise Burns debuts video for "Storms"

Today Vancouver’s Louise Burns has debuted the video for "Storms", the lead single off of her upcoming, and quite lovely, album Young Mopes (2/3 on Light Organ Records). The clip shot in beautiful black and white and directed by Exquisite Corps, the filmmaking team of Justin Gradin and Ben Jacques, shows Ms. Burns trying to flee a haunted dollhouse. The house comes complete with floating sharks, man-eating furniture and a melted faced doppelganger waiting on the other side.

Fall Fashion: Roots Sage dress

Does it get more Canadian than Roots? Unless you’re an actual beaver, you’re probably looking for ways to wear local designers and with the Sage dress from Roots, you can do just that. One of our country’s most-trusted brands has moved beyond sweatpants in the last decade and really come into their own as a casual fashion powerhouse. Plus, the Sage dress will keep you warm in the coming months when the weather gets all pissy as it is wont to do in this country.

Review | King of Leon - Walls

There are bands out there that transcend trends and time. Bands that we’ve come to expect to a certain level of experimentation, bands that push themselves to create music that is not only good but also interesting, that offer a point of view other than to sell out arenas and garner social media likes. Kings of Leon are not one of those bands. After a three-year wait the band has dropped their new album, Walls.

Wants & Needs | Rains Poncho

It rains sometimes this time of year. It messes with your hair, your clothes and your shoes. With the Poncho from Rains you get protection from the elements plus you’ll look dope. This practical and stylish pullover has side buttons making it easy to pull on and off. What an aptly named company! Rains. It’s like they knew what they wanted to make and didn’t bother to come up with a silly name. Respect.

MILES TO GO: Call of Cthulhu Tee

Let’s face it, HP Lovecraft was a major donk (re: horrible dude). However, he did invent some of the tropes and themes still used in today’s horror genre. MILES TO GO’s Call of Cthulhu Tee is made of 100% combed cotton and features one of Lovecraft’s most beloved and feared creations, the Great Old One himself. Cthulhu is older than dirt and looks like the love child of Aquaman and the Kraken.

Smash Boom Pow Video: Listen To Me

Vancouver sibling two-piece Smash Boom Pow hit the road in “Listen To Me”, the new single from their EP Higher Power Of Desire.

Directed by the enigmatic Room Collective, the clip finds the brothers embarking on a journey through a myriad of psychedelic backdrops in hopes of reaching the higher power of desire. Set to a distorted riff and an air tight drum groove, the pair travel through time, space, the ocean, Vegas and other assorted green screen-ery on their search.
