Festival Of Lights | Berlin

If you happen to be heading to Berlin from October 10-21, you have to check out the annual Festival of Lights. Taking the whole light show thing to the next level, the entire city will be lit up like a Christmas tree. Using light and video projections, as well as interactive and static installations to transform the city, the 12 day festival also has other arts and cultural events, live jazz and shopping sales going on at the same time. Yet another great reason to visit Berlin.

OTRO | Glow In The Dark Skatepark

Korean born artist, Koo Jeong A, collaborated with Belgian architect firm, L'escaut, to create an art installation composed of different bowls, a cradle and a tunnel, that also doubles as a skatepark. Located on Vassivière Island in France, the installation titled OTRO, is a daring skateable artwork that glows-in-the-dark. Koo Jeong A invites novices and experts to share the physical and sensory experience of her work by “skating the landscape” 24 hours a day.

Machinegrems

For the launch of their Citiscape range of new street style headphones, Philips asked renowned French urban artist, graphicist, illustrator, and rapper Grems to etch three limited addition collector’s box sets to house them. Not content with tickling your proverbial visual taste buds, they asked NYC’s own electro maestro Machinedrum, a.k.a. Travis Stewart, founder of the Merck label, to pen three exclusive tracks to go alongside.

Stay Cool

Just as you start worrying about getting old and your hey day being behind you, in comes this self-published beauty of a photography book, by LA-based photographer RJ Shaughnessy, documenting and capturing exactly what ‘youth’ means. Youth is some carefree, sun-drenched and sickeningly beautiful people frolicking around LA., kissing on top of traffic lights, shredding through Beverly Hills and catching piggy back rides from cops. We love this book.
