Tonight in MTL: STENCILED at Station 16 Gallery

Tonight, Montreal's Station 16 Gallery presents STENCILED -- a group exhibition showcasing the innovative stencil work of Tokyo's AIKO, Iran's Icy and Sot, New York's Joe Iurato and Logan Hicks, and the UK's Snik. Each renowned in their own right, this group of artists have the distinguishing feature of working with intricate stencils in their artwork, from small original works on canvas to large scale murals.

Tonight's vernissage is taking place at the gallery (3523 St. Laurent) from 6 - 9 PM, and the show will be running until May 21st.

Back in December we introduced you to the timeless design of Cartel Footwear's leather boot collection. So, of course, we were excited to see this year's Spring/Summer collection of shoes and sandals! The 2016 collection is influenced by two unique and completely contrasting sources, late 70’s English Mod and Club culture and the Old West, through pairing materials such as patent leather and metallic materials, or natural suede,  tassels and subtle Cordovan lining.

For Ola Volo, a freelance artist and illustrator based out of Vancouver, feeding off her creative multiculturalism outlet is like exchanging vows with what she's passionate about: it's for better or for worse. When work isn't as commendable as she'd like it to be, it takes a toll on everything else.

Prince - Dead at 57

We at ION are devastated to report that Prince Rogers Nelson, known worldwide as Prince, has died. TMZ just reported the death within the last hour -- though their site is currently unavailable. The iconic "prince" of funk-pop fell ill recently, causing him to cancel two shows on April 7th. His reps said he had been battling the flu. He was found this morning at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassan Minnesota.
