Created in the spirit of nineties nostalgia, Vancouver based jewellery line, Army Of Rokosz's latest offering, “Wild Lovers & Midnight Riders,” is a collection inspired by watching the moon cross the sky, not sleeping till the sun comes up, star-crossed lovers, and always having a good time. Designer and creator Andrea Rokosz puts her touch in every piece; carving, casting and fabricating the bronze and silver by hand in her studio.

We’ve noticed an abundance of impressive, young men’s designers here in Canada, and Vancouver’s London Alexander is leading the way for these entrepreneurial, multi-faceted males. Born and raised in Squamish, BC, Alexander’s fashion bone itched early when he began designing T-shirts in high school. Since then he has produced five men’s collections, all as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible, with classic tailoring, Pacific Northwest influences, and are of course, made in Canada.

Being born in the nineties, I missed out on the inception of a lot of things like Inspector Gadget and Super Mario Bros. (which I've played, just never finished). And according to my siblings, a lot of influential music came out of the eighties, such as New Order, Talking Heads, and Depeche Mode. It seems a lot of electronic pop/rock bands are emulations of the genres they grew up on.

We hate to break it down into such simplistic, teen terms, but Montreal’s Frank & Oak are just, cool. They make us ION females want to be men, or at least hope they start up a women’s collection soon. Sold exclusively online, they design, manufacture and sell an individually curated collection of menswear each month.

If you already know Basia Bulat, then you’ll feel a comfortable familiarity with her latest release, Tall Tall Shadow, almost immediately. If you don’t, then I recommend going back and starting with her first release Oh, My Darling, not because Tall Tall Shadow is less accessible (it is), but because Basia’s growth as an artist is worth following.
