HAIM | The Exception

Last year saw HAIM hit the big time around the world. Inclusion in all the ubiquitous best songs of 2013 lists for “The Wire”, a lauded performance on Saturday Night Live, and everyone knowing Este’s “bass face”, is all off the back of their critically acclaimed debut album Days Are Gone. We don’t know how else to put it, these girls are big. Our music editor, Trevor Risk, meets the trio, and finds they are the refreshing exception to the rule.

High Gloss Vol. 1 [MIXTAPE]

After a few quick e-mails, Mark Penner (Cyclist) and Rich Piasetski (Dickystixxx) met up at a cafe in Liberty Village, Toronto. The two put their heads together and drew up the idea of a collaborative mixtape and event series that’ll shake up Toronto’s electronic music scene.

The Real People of Vancouver

Inspired and intrigued by the interesting characters he sees when walking around his city and not impressed with TV's misrepresentation of who is "real" in Vancouver, Joseph PS Klymkiw decided to document and feature the exact people he saw daily who are real to him and that is someone that "does what they love and keeps doing it" with a project called The Real People of Vancouver.

Hailing from the Bay Area, California, garage punk rock band, Brasil, consists of Jasper Leach, Tom Ferguson, Michael Vattuone and Paul Korte who got together in the early summer of 2012 starting as something casual—four guys playing in a room with live vocals and all about keeping the mistakes. They ran songs down as quickly as they could, learned everything right before they recorded it and found everything had a great vibe to it.
