Leathers debut single "Missing Scene"

Vancouver is absolutely overflowing with exciting new music these days and the debut single “Missing Scene” from 1990s inspired alt provocateurs Leathers is no exception. A super group of sorts, Leathers is the combined effort of producer Jason Corbett and keyboardist Shannon Hemmett, of ACTORS, and Jahmeel Russell and Robbie Zgaljic, the rhythm section and brain trust of Red Vienna.

Suzanne Ciani: Buchla Master Shares her Knowledge In Montreal As Part Of The RBMA

The Buchla is an enigma of an instrument; the complexity and beauty of the music it creates is overwhelming. As I prepared for this piece I spent much time agonising over this instrument, trying to understand  — even at the most basic level — what it was and how it works. The instrument itself is a large machine with multi-coloured knobs, dials, and wires connected everywhere; an intimidating but very intriguing instrument.

Montreal Disco King Robert Ouimet -- Red Bull Music Academy

It's a pretty miserable day today in Montreal, but don't let it stop you from getting down to Ville-Émard to check out Red Bull Music Academy's 'Québec Électrique : Montréal Discoville' happening tonight at 9PM at Théâtre Paradoxe. The night is notably featuring disco legend Robert Ouimet -- the Montreal disco DJ of the '70s, a title earned as house DJ at the famed Rue Stanely spot Lime Light (now Chez Parée strip club). In 1977, he won Billboard Magazine's 'Best Canadian DJ' award.

Brutes Premiere "Inside"

Anyone who has ever spent a little bit of time around Vancouver’s music scene knows that this city is known for not only breeding huge worldwide hitmakers but also for an underground of artists who intend to create something that is unique and, at the very least, interesting. Cue Brutes, a new analogue synth-based darkwave project from vocalist Lindsay Dakin, keyboardist Christian Pelech and programmer Jonathan Salvatore.

Louise Burns debuts video for "Storms"

Today Vancouver’s Louise Burns has debuted the video for "Storms", the lead single off of her upcoming, and quite lovely, album Young Mopes (2/3 on Light Organ Records). The clip shot in beautiful black and white and directed by Exquisite Corps, the filmmaking team of Justin Gradin and Ben Jacques, shows Ms. Burns trying to flee a haunted dollhouse. The house comes complete with floating sharks, man-eating furniture and a melted faced doppelganger waiting on the other side.
